On the wall of the Pristina Public University Philological Faculty building and on the mosque's cornerstone in the neighbourhood of “Dania”, threatening inscriptions against Kosovo Republic President Hashim Thaci, the head of the Pristina municipality, Shpend Ahmeti and the chairman of the Islamic Community of Kosovo, Naim Trnava, were written early last week.
The construction of the great mosque is being opposed by these threatening graphs.
Security institutions have chosen silence, including threats. Only the Islamic Community reacted.
Security expert Drizan Shala said the problem of graphs lies in the source of financing for mosque construction and previous youth participation in Eastern wars.
However, threats say they are serious and called on the rule institutions.
And the Islamic Community of Kosovo has condemned the case.
While Kosovo police say they are investigating the case with the relevant prosecution and cannot provide details.
The theme for the construction of the great mosque has been reactualised recently in terms of its appearance, while the stones were placed in 2012.
Construction is expected to be funded by the Turkish Religious Affairs Foundation (Diyanet), because Pristina's municipal Assembly has not yet approved the mosque plan.
