Russia warns: What happens if the U.S. attacks North Korea

The Russian Foreign Ministry today warned that a military attack against North Korea would bring a huge tragedy with many dead civilians.

All parties involved in tensions on the Korean Peninsula should show restraint and prevent the situation in reaching the point of not returning”, Foreign Affairs Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a comment published by the official news agency TASS.

There is no alternative to the peaceful resolution of tensions between North Korea and South Korea”, she added.

Russia and China, which have closer diplomatic relations with the isolated state of North Korea, have been trying to promote a peace agreement where North Korea can cut off its nuclear weapons programme in exchange for the break-up of military exercises with the US, TAS reported.
