Since October of last year, nearly a year has taken place since this Trepca Law was passed by the Kosovo Assembly, no step has been taken from the government's respective ministries, which has 80% shares in this production giant.
Former President Muhamet Mustafa has told Indexline that the main responsibility for not having started electing members of the Steering Board immediately after the Trepca Law is the Ministry of Economic Development, which is behind such a task.
“The Ministry of Economic Development has not developed procedures in time, delaying the announcement of competitions and proposals for board members, and that is of great importance because the law is an important document and has opened the prospects for Trepca to become a modern corporation it does not solve all problems. To implement the law, the activity of Trepca's supervisory board is needed, and of course the economic policies of the Government of Kosovo and the Assembly also”, Mustafa has said.
As for naming members of the supervisory board for Trepca, it has further indicated that the appointment of this composition in the future should not be resolved on the basis of party militants but professional people.
The key “is that members of the board for the Trepca kids will be named to be competent to the clients are independent of the clients who will not be subject to political influence and interests or parties. On the basis of the past practice, these boards have employed one of them in policy service, I have asked a British organization that is contracted by the former prime minister and the former head of the assembly to fight the interest groups for board members, they have expressed the interest to be involved in the stages of interviewing and selecting these members to be as professional as<1>, he said.
Mustafa has indicated that he expects that within this year the board for Trepca will be set up and start operating Trepca, according to him this is very urgent because the corporation needs to be constitutionalised so that its actual functioning can begin.
