Then Serbia's positioning towards Russia and not regulating laws.
So it turned out to be after yesterday's meeting that Serbia's President, Alexander Vuciq, has developed with European Parliament rapporteur for Serbia David McCallister, writes Kurir, broadcasts Klan Kosova.
Vucic has said he disagrees with McCallister, that the key issue for Serbia's progress towards membership in the European Union is improving laws.
The key question is Kosovo, and secondly Serbia's positioning towards Russia, not regulation of the law, even though Western politicians always exclude it”, Vuciq has said.
He has said that “koca hurts” mostly because of relations between Belgrade and Pristina.
Serbia alone has chapter 35. That is why our internal dialogue with Kosovo and Metohija is important, because, since there is no improvement in relations, there is no progress on the road to the EU. However, I do not see a second possibility for Serbia to join the EU”, Vucic has continued.
On the other side McCallister has said his position is clear and that Serbia depends on the kind of progress he will make in the years ahead.
It is no secret that I want to see Serbia as soon as possible in the EU and not too late, and I've been working out colleagues who think so. But that there is still work to be done, especially seeing regulation of the law and fighting corruption. There are many important articles that are highlighted in the report, and that your government knows what it is:x1>, McCallister said.
He further said he cannot give a date when Serbia can become part of the big European family.
