There has been an increase of jobs in restaurants, business services and the healthcare sector, reportedly in Friday's Labor Department report.
The average job salary rose nine cents more per hour in July, amounting to $26,36 per hour. This is 65 cents more than last year, or an increase of 2.5 percent.
But while the latest unemployment report shows that there has been a significant increase in the number of jobs and pay increases, it also shows that 7 million Americans remain unemployed and another 5.3 million who want full-time jobs can only find part-time jobs.
President Donald Trump commented on the Labour Department's Twitter report; he named government employment figures <x0 fine” and added that reducing regulators has helped increase jobs.
During the election campaign, when the official unemployment rate was about 5 percent, at the time candidate Trump called the employment figures “false” and that they should not be trusted.
He insisted that the current unemployment rate was much higher, perhaps 42 percent.
