Japan is the only country that has experienced two atomic attacks in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, reports the AFP agency from Tokyo capital.
The attack on Hiroshima took place on August 6, 1945, and three days later, the second attack was carried out in Nagasaki, in the United States, at the end of World War II.
Japan declared its surrender on August 15, 1945, the REL writes.
These attacks killed 140 thousand people in Hiroshima and 74 thousand people in Nagasaki. Some died immediately, while others died after several weeks, months, or years because of injuries or related diseases.
Many people in Japan consider these attacks to be war crimes because civilians were targeted and because of the extraordinary destructive nature of this weapon, the AFP reports.
But many Americans believe that the attacks have accelerated the outcome of the bloody conflict and have eventually saved lives, considering that this reasons for the United States' attacks with an atom bomb.
