A couple in North Dakota are facing murder charges after killing a pregnant woman claiming that you were their child.
Savanna LaFontane-Greywind, 22-year-old was in the eighth month of pregnancy when she disappeared on 19 August.
Her body was found by kayaks' leaders Sunday on the Red River, wrapped in plastic bags, local media Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.
The police in Fargos had previously described her death as murder. 32-year-old William Hoehn and 38-year-old Brooke Crews are in custody.
They gave the police different versions of how they came to take care of a healthy two-day newborn after Mrs. LaFontane-Greywind visited their apartment the day she disappeared.
The discovery of her body puts an end to eight - day search for mother and nurse, where they helped hundreds of volunteers, including local, state, and federal police officers.
Police suspect that the baby is Mrs. LaFontane-Greywind's daughter, but the results of DNA testing are pending.
Two days later, Crews claims, Mrs. LaFontane-Greywind returned to the apartment and handed her a child. During the three preliminary search of the residence, the Fargo Police Department found no evidence of criminal activity.
But on August 24th, police executed a search warrant in the apartment and discovered the newborn baby.
In later police interviews, the couple gave conflicting stories about what happened.
According to court documents, Mr. Hoehn claimed he came home from work to find Mrs. Crews cleaning the blood in the bathroom and showing it to the kid.
This is our baby, this is our family,” told Mrs. Crews to him. He agreed to place blooded towels and shoes in a warehouse in the city.
The results of a preliminary autopsy released on Tuesday found that the cause of Mrs. LaFontane-Greywind's death was “deadly rape” but there was no details of how her child was delivered.
An abandoned farm in the vicinity of Moorhead, Minnesota, is now a crime scene about the death of Mrs. LaFontane-Greywind.
Ashton Matheny, the boyfriend of Mrs. LaFontane-Greywind and the baby's father, complained that she was not allowed to see the results pending DNA.
“They are claiming to be their child,” he told St Paul Pioneer Press. My “Bota has disappeared, they took my world from me”
