Michel Barnier said that the consequences of leaving the EU did not appear to have been analysed with a “sufficient restraint” in Great Britain, and that British negotiating positions seemed like a “nostalgi” to determine its benefits, the “The Independent” reported, broadcast Periscopi.
Barnier told reporters in Brussels that “did not achieve any decisive progress on any key issue”, even though Brex Secretary David Davis struck with a more positive tone, saying the “of high stress” of the negotiations had given “some concrete advances”.
At a press conference to mark the end of the final round of talks, Barnier said: “Great Britain wants to take over new controls, wants to establish its standards and regulations, but also wants these standards to be automatically recognised in the EU -- that is what it says in the letters of labour in the United Kingdom. It's simply impossible: you can't be out of the only market and form a legal order as you wish for”.
He continued: “Sic said on a number of occasions, there are major consequences for citizens, for consumers, for businesses”.
When I read some of the letters David sent me on behalf of the British government, in some proposals I see a kind of nostalption in the form of specific requirements that would continue to enjoy the benefits of the EU and as a single market without being part of it”, he said./Periscopi/
