The funeral ceremony of the former prime minister and former Mitrovica chairman Bajram Rexhepi, who died yesterday in Turkey, has already begun in the town of Mitrovica.
His former fellow doctors, politicians, public figures and KSF members are already in Mitrovica's graveyards, where the last goodbyes of former Kosovo prime minister will be given.
Rexhepi passed away Monday in Turkey at the age of 63. He had brain attacks in April since he was in a coma. After several days of treatment in Kosovo, Rexhepi was sent to a Turkish hospital for treatment.
Rexhepi was born on June 3, 1954, in Mitrovica. Rexhepi had graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Pristina University in 1979, and his postgraduate studies were completed in Zagreb in 1985. He worked for years as a general surgeon and endoscopic specialist at the Mitrovica regional hospital until 1990.
During the war with Serbia in 1999, Rexhepi joined the Kosovo Liberation Army and spent three months in the mountains, serving as a doctor in the operational zone of Shala.
Meanwhile, in 2002 the first prime minister of Kosovo's provisional self-government institutions had been elected.
In the past period, Rexhepi had left politics and had returned to the profession as a surgeon at the Mitrovica regional hospital.
