Albania at Risk of This Disease

Albania is endangered by Nile fever. Although the virus circulates in neighbouring countries like Greece, Italy, Albania's Institute of Public Health confirms that no cases have been recorded in the country yet.

“Albania has been endangered because in our country are the vectors that distribute. But we're monitoring especially in its serious cases as menning, or encephalitis. Four cases have been recorded in Greece, 1 in Italy and 1 in Israel”, says Silva Bino from ISHP.

The disease is caused by the virus, which is spread through mosquito bites, which circulate widely in our country. As long as they come in contact with infected birds and spread the virus to humans.

The fever of the western Nile is the fastest form of disease, which is characterized by temperature, sluggishness, weakness, headaches, and body pain. Anorexics or vomiting, rashes on the skin, and in the worst cases of encephalitis, mening, or paralysis.

Man is represented in two clinical forms: Western Nile fever that is relatively mild and similar to flu and neuroinvasive, which includes all cases of neurologic signs.
