The number of road accidents, as well as dead persons from these accidents, has marked increases in recent months.
In July alone, 17 people have lost their lives as a result of these accidents.
This large number of accidents is estimated to be responsible in addition to car drivers and road infrastructure. The lack of static speed measure equipment, adequate signaling, as well as lighting on several main roads, is seen as factors affecting the number of accidents, writes “Koha Ditore” today.
Meanwhile, as a result of the large flow of vehicles and increased number of road accidents, Kosovo police have established a special task force, aimed at increasing security on the streets of Kosovo earlier this month.
According to Baki Kelan, spokesman for the Kosovo Police, since the establishment of this task force has increased the number of Kosovo Police members, and at the same time doubled the number of fines for violators of communications regulations. For the results of this operational police plan, Kelani says it is early to assess.
“We are analyzing data on daily bases. However, we must wait until the end of the month to compare data for the entire month to see the final results of this task force”, he has said.
