These agreements have been announced during Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko's visit to Washington on June 20th, but negotiations are still under way for details.
Ukraine needs radar, flight systems without crews and safe communication until it develops battles with separatists backed by Russia in eastern Ukraine. This war, which began in April 2014, has killed more than 10,000 people.
The first agreement envisions Ukraine's free access to the defence market in the United States and relief for Ukraine for selling its equipment to the United States.
The deal does not envision the sale of deadly American military weapons in Ukraine.
Denys Gurak, executive at Uchroboronprom, which is a defence conglomerate in Ukraine, has told Reuters that agreements “will show that we are strategic partners for America at the” defence complex.
