Turkey is gearing up to lift the ban on Turkish Airlines flights that have the United States of America (SHBA) for destination, reports the Anadolu Agency (AA).
Turkish Minister for Transport Ahmet Arslan said American security officials on Wednesday will monitor implementation of the agreement at Turkey's airports, after which stop will be lifted.
According to him, US officials will check the devices for detection of explosives deployed at airports across Turkey.
“Turkey is an extraordinary country as our security forces can take security measures independently”, Arslan said, to add that American officials will only observe and verify the security system.
He further said that the International Airport in Abu Dhabi on Sunday became the first airport to remove the ban after the US imposed additional security measures.
At the end of June, Turkey began using American tomographic devices to scan luggage at airports, which are already used at airports in the US, Netherlands, Singapore and Johannesburg (South Africa).
In March of this year, the United States banned passengers from carrying large electronic devices, such as laptops, for US commercial flights from 10 international airports from majority Muslim countries, Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, and Turkey.
