The president of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, has hosted the meeting today of Congressman Devon Nunes, chairman of the Intelligence Committee at the American Congress and George Pappas, senior adviser to the Intelligence Committee, accompanied by US Ambassador to Kosovo Greg Delawie.
President Thaci has thanked Congressman Nunes for his continued US support for Kosovo.
“We are partners and friends, we have special relationships, because we share and engage for the same values”, President Thaci said.
According to a Presidency communique, Thaci also said that Kosovo in only a decade as a state has achieved major successes in building democratic institutions, economics and rule of law.
“SAA signing and obtaining candidate country status for the MCC are confirmation of these Kosovo achievements”, he said.
President Thaci further said Kosovo is a factor of stability in the region and confirmed Kosovo's commitment to peace and stability.
“We are uncompromising in fighting radicalism and terrorism”, President Thaci said.
Congressman Nunes said the United States remains committed to lasting peace and stability in the Southeast European region.
President Thaci at the end stressed that American presence in the Balkans is essential for peace, development and integration of the region.
