Thaci shows what government must be formed, sessions very soon

President Thaci has said that the Constitution of Kosovo and the laws in power clearly define the steps and deadlines within which the new Kosovo Assembly should be constitutionalised, elected the Speaker and Headship of the Parliament, and then continue with forming the Government.

“We are within set terms with the Constitution. But we need to move forward and start preparations for the first session of the Kosovo Assembly. So I have invited you today as a symbol of national unity, at this time when we need to think and debate constructively about Kosovo. Now is the time for cooperation, for dialogue, for building trust among all of us. That's why I invited this meeting”, President Thaci said.

President Thaci has said political parties have once again witnessed political maturity, holding free, fair and democratic elections.

“What was most impressive in the election was spirit, prudent vocabulary, co-operative and inclusive. I hope this spirit lasts even at this time, but even after the founding of the” institutions, President Thaci said.

He said the overwhelming part of the political class in Kosovo has consistently testified that it knows to put Kosovo's interest ahead of personal, group and party interests, and that this should remain the basic principle of political action in all parties.

I invite you as a political party to co-ordinate with your deputies and to be available to hold the first session of the Kosovo Assembly, in which MPs' mandates will be verified and we will choose the Speaker and Headship of the Assembly, to pave the way for the formation of the new Government of the Republic of Kosovo. This government will be the government of Euro-Atlantic orientation, which will commit to working and realise the aspirations of Kosovo's citizens for quick NATO and EU membership”, he has said.

At this consultative meeting, President Thaci has also highlighted the prevailing principles on which the new government, which must be clearly based on Euro-Atlantic principles, will be established.

He has said that promoting and defending the spirit and constitutional order should be the foundation of the future government.

Also, as the basic principles on which the future government should be built, President Thaci has said there are rule of law and order, fighting organised crime and corruption, then association and demarcation, visa liberalisation, dialogue with Serbia and building good inter-side relations with all neighbours, respecting international agreements, transforming the KSF into the Kosovo Armed Forces, and determination to fight any extremism and radicalism.

In the end, President Thaci has said that very soon he will set the date for holding the First Assembly of the Sixth Parliamentary Legissule of the Republic of Kosovo.
