By investigating whether Kur '%an is really more violent than his Jewish-Christian counterparts, software engineer Tom Anderson processed the text of sacred books to find out which contained the most violence.
In a blog post, Anderson explains: “The project was inspired by the ongoing public debate over whether terrorism related to Islamic fundamentalism reflects something that is natural and obviously violent for Islam compared to other major religions”.
Using the text analysis software he had developed, he analyzed both the New International Version of the Old and New Testaments and a version of the Koran in English.
It took only two minutes for him to read and analyze three books.
Categorizing these words, prediction, anger, disgusting, sadness, surprise, fear, anxiety and faith.
Ananalysica has found that the Bible had more words for anger and much less than the Quran for faith.
Further analysis revealed that the Old Testament was more violent than the New Testament and more than twice as violent as the Koran.
Anderson sums up: “From all three texts, content in the Old Testament appears to be more violent.
“Murder and destruction have been referred to a little more frequently in the New Testament (2.8%) than in the Koran (2.1%), but the Old Testament clearly leads more than double the Koranʹ in mention of destruction and murder (5.3% ). “
