Salt consumption, experts say, can trigger weight loss. The results show that high consumption of salt does not necessarily increase thirst, but the amount of urine produced is consistent with days when you do not consume high amounts of salt. This suggests that the body melts fat to produce fluids.
The findings are a contradiction with preliminary studies suggesting that excessive salt consumption causes weight gain by causing the body to keep fluids inside. Researchers from “Vanderbilt University” have analyzed astronauts under space travel simulations.
The result, published in the “Journal of Clinical Investment”, has suggested that despite the greatest consumption of salt on certain days, astronauts had drunk less water, which is contrary to the theory that salt foods added to our thirst.
Thus, despite the lack of water they had drunk, the crew had peed the same amount of urine. The explanation for this was that astronauts had exchanged fats for juice.
