Rape and killed 3-year-old girl, executed by machine gun

A man who raped and killed a three-year-old girl was executed with a machine gun. Muhammad al-Maghrab, 41, was killed after he first lay on the floor following his conviction of the young girl's death, Rana Yahya Al-Matar.

His execution, at a narrow distance, was broadcast live on Yemen's televisions.

He was shot dead in front of a crowd of thousands, including many of those who recorded on their mobile phones what happened in the capital city of Sana.

His hands were tied behind his back as he was brought from a prison van before he lay half apiece on a carpet in front of the crowd.

A man believed to be a police officer approached him and shot him in the back.

Al-Maghrab admitted to raping the girl in his cabin south of the capital on the first day of Eid al-Fitr.
