Ramush Haradinaj's first failure

The Vetevendosje movement, which has emerged second in terms of the number of seats won in the early parliamentary elections on June 11th, but also the coalition, which leads the Democratic League of Kosovo, as the third most gained number of seats in the Assembly since Monday, has indicated they will not participate in the meeting invited by Haradinaj.

Avni Arifi, Haradinaj's adviser, has stressed that the latter will invite all parliamentary parties to the meeting.

Regarding the rejection of two political subjects, who after the coalition PAN, have the largest number of seats in the Assembly, Arifaj has stressed that, however, they expect a formal response from them.

We have given them formal invitations and expect formal answers. We make the first proposals to make parliamentary parties part of the government. If we have rejection, then we will see the possibility of building partnerships with MPs outside parliamentary groups”, Arifaj said.

He has added that the nominated for prime minister, Haradinaj, has had meetings with representatives of minority communities in the Kosovo Assembly, except representatives of the Serb community, whom he said would soon be invited.

Ambassador of the United States to Pristina Greg Delawi, who has met with Mr. Haradinaj on Monday, has also met with New Kosovo Alliance leader Behgjet Pacolli on Tuesday. The political subject leading Pacolli is in the pre-election coalition with the Democratic League of Kosovo. Details of this meeting have not been published, but Ambassador Delaway has briefly told the media that “will meet all”.

On the other hand, connoisseurs of political developments in Kosovo say that following the Certificate of the final results of the June 11th elections by the Central Election Commission, which has opened the way for the new composition of the Assembly, as well as the formation of the new government, political parties will face reality, as they estimate, not easy.

Politologist Belul Beqaj, professor of Political Sciences, tells Radio Free Europe that the political scene in Kosovo faces two variants for the creation of new institutions.

The first variable, then, for the PAN to form the Government, seems not to be what the statements were. At least, even if it is formed, it will be very fragile the coalition government and as such leaves it to wish there could be a long life. In the second version, regardless of what the president thinks personally (Hashim Thaci), I believe that by looking at the current contacts with the international community, the QUINT states, they will force Thaci to give the possibility of forming Government by Vetevendosje, the Democratic League of Kosovo and other subjects”, Beqaj said.

He believes that regardless of which subject or coalition will rule in this mandate, there will be no long life, but on the other hand, neither a blockade for forming the Government and going back to early parliamentary elections are solutions to the situation and in the face of processes awaiting Kosovo.
