Petersen: The people's democratic vote made “Vetevendosje” the largest party

Former Kosovo Prime Minister Soren Jessen-Petersen, during an exclusive interview with the newspaper “Voice” says Kosovo citizens in the June 11th elections voted for changes. According to him, the time has come for the country to change the political class, or the latter to change its priorities. He is, however, happy that Kosovo is [...]
He is, however, happy that Kosovo is already independent, as he expresses disappointment with the failure to fight corruption and organised crime.
Voice: Movement “Movement” is now a serious political force, until you were just starting as a civic initiative. Do you think its leaders are already willing to take on institutional responsibilities?
Petersen: You've had last elections and let them talk about exercising democracy. So you either have directly people in power, or indirectly through voting they do. People have exercised their democratic right by voting and through that vote they have made “Vetevendosje” the largest party. So this is already a clear, very clear message of voters. As far as the readiness for power is concerned, as I know, we already have the Pristina chairman from this party.
Voice: So you're saying that “Replace” is ready to rule with the country?
Petersen: It has nothing to do with my opinion, so the people have decided to make the largest party in Kosovo currently. It now depends on negotiations between political parties. But whether they are willing or not, what is important is the fact that votes for 32 MPs have said they are ready. They were voters who talked.
Voice: Are you saying voters have talked about changes in Kosovo?
Petersen: Yes, it seems that many voters have the same attitude as I do. So I think it's a crucial moment to see some changes now, which means some changes in the economy, employment and this requires improvements in rule of law and in fighting corruption. These are the reasons voters have voted this way.
