In the indictment, 14 people from Serbia, Montenegro and Russia have joined the terrorist group that last October 16th last year was prepared to attack state institutions and kill former Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic.
In the indictment, according to the VOA, it is claimed to have been two Russian nationals who initiated the plot, Edward Shirokov and Vladimir Popov, who, says the prosecution body, are linked to official circles in Russia and to paramilitary formations in Serbia.
Aleksandar Singelic, who is known as a Serbian paramilitary who participated in the wars of the former Yugoslavia and in the Ukraine war, alongside the Russians, had announced that he was recruited by Russian security agent Shishmakov, who gave 200,000 euros for preparing the coup plan in Montenegro.
Two deputies of the Montenegrin opposition party, the Democratic Front, have also been involved in this group, Andrija Mandic and Milan Knezevic.
At the request of the Special Prosecutor, they were stripped of their immunity. The plot, according to Montenegrin authorities, was aimed at striking state institutions, but also blocking Montenegro's NATO membership.
Moscow had also made it clear that it did not want membership in the north-Atlantic alliance of what it considers its bastion.
