The Association of Albania Village of Likova, for 10 years, follows the battle with justice institutions for their son's release from prison.
Former Member of The KLA, Rexhail Qerim, was sentenced to life in prison for participating in the murder of a police officer of the Alfaı unit, on November 26th 2008, near the Faculty of Mathematical Sciences in Skopje, where three other policemen were injured.
Defence lawyers but family members consider the occasion to be mounted, since on the day of the incident, Rexhail Qerim was in the village and was even seen by many witnesses at his locale in the centre of the village.
“How is it possible to accuse a person of murder, sentenced to life in prison, in a place where security cameras catch him at 11:35 noon and then say it's black recording and that they don't look like figures? Then a person in his decision writes that over 70 bullet shells were fired, and 4-5 hours after the incident were arrested, Rejail Qerim, received all tests in which it turns out there are no powder marks in his hands. How can he be charged with murder?”, INA Jethula Qerim, brother of Rejail Qerim, tells the agency.
Disillusioned by the failure of justice bodies, Rexhail Qreim's family has become part of the “Leary initiative for victims of Grujevism”, through which amnesty is required for prisoners and the revision of judgments by Macedonian judges during the period of past power.
We're looking for justice. Since there was no justice so far, since we had such a government that did not accept any documents but the more sentences I make and the more money I raise. We as a family chose to ask for amnesty because we have new governments that I think will help us in this initiative and free these people for whom cases have been put in place -- the Jetullah Qerim, the family. /Ina
