Iraqi government forces are fighting to eliminate the final positions of I terrorists SIS in the old town of Mosul, after two days after Iranian Prime Minister Heidar Ehbad formally declared victory over extremists in their former castle and Iraq's second largest city.
Three residents living alone along the Tigris River from the devastated area tell Reuters Wednesday that heavy exchanges of firearms between Iraqi Army soldiers and militants in I SIS began before midnight and expanded in the morning hours. The army of helicopters flew over the old city, and smoke columns rose into the air.
