Unidentified police officials have told the agency AP that a car bomb exploded today near the Iraqi Embassy, following an attempt by armed men to infiltrate the building.
Iraqi Interior Ministry spokesman Najib Danish said Iraqi diplomats are safe and that three armed persons were considered involved in the attack.
The extremist group, the Islamic State (IS), has claimed responsibility for this attack, the group's propaganda agency, Amac, has reported.
In the images posted on social media, there are clouds of smoke rising to the sky.
There were no immediate reports of eventual casualties.
This year, several deadly attacks have occurred in Kabul, which are blamed on Taliban or Islamic State.
