Isuf Azemi from the Union of Independent Trade Unions of Kosovo (BSPK) says that during the first five months of this year in their jobs, 10 people have lost their lives. According to him, this figure may be even higher, the newspaper “Voice” now writes.

During the first five months of 2017 alone, 10 workers have lost their lives in their private sector workplace.

But, according to BSPK representatives, this figure could be even higher.

Isuf Azem, from BSPK, says that nobody in Kosovo cares about workers' rights, as, according to him, they work under extremely serious conditions, where they are also losing their lives.

After the inspection we did a few days ago, it can be said that only God protects the workers, and that there is no greater number, considering the situation in which they work in the private sector. Nobody cares about these workers. This state is only interested in receiving taxes, but not in how to take care of citizens”, he said, writes Voice.

Anemia further shows that during inspections, most of the time, workers have encountered cases when they work without any means of protection.

According to him, more than 150 thousand workers in Kosovo work without labour contracts.

According to Azem, the ministry of labour is guilty of this situation in the private sector, but also of labour unions.

And this is where the Ministry of Labor is, but we are in union, as we have numerous cases when the worker becomes part of the Union, then he has trouble with the owner of the company, who sanctions these workers”, he relates..
