Wednesday was the 20th day in a row that the National Meteorology Centre has kept the alarm for the heat.
In areas south of the Yangtze River, in the Jianghuai Valley and Sichuan Basin, temperatures reached about 39 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, while in some parts reached more than 40, CRI writes.
China has a four-level weather alarm system where red represents the most serious level, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
