The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (BQK) has announced in Kosovo in addition to conducting cash payments, in recent years notes a rapid increase in the use of electronic payment instruments

According to the CEC, from statistical data for 2016, there is an increase in the number and value of credit transfers, which present an option for cash free payments.

In order to increase efficiency in conducting transactions with the folder, the CEC has presupposed the implementation of an interbanking card payment system to provide operating functionality among card issuers.
“in this context, this year's study of feasibility for the creation of the interbank system for transactions with POS and ATM, supported by the Government-For-Government (G2G programme) programme as a partnership by USAID for development of local capacities”, the ECC annual report says.
