Shira, up to 30 inches [50 cm] in length, affected some areas of the island of Chishu, on the southern extreme of the Asian country. Rescue teams have been working for hours in the mud trying to find survivors, while hundreds of others have been evacuated.
Other areas affected by bad weather are in Fukuoka Prefecture, where local authorities warned that the region will experience further heavy rainfall over the weekend. Rescue operations are all engaged in 12,000 effective officers, soldiers, firefighters and staff of Japan's coast guard
