“Time zero is coming to the battlefield at Sana”, former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh said in his recent public statement, quoted by broadcaster “Al Arabiya” on Monday. The country must be saved from the madness of the Houthi” group he has declared.
On Sunday, Saleh also refused to co-operate with the rebels of Houth, the group officially known as “Ansar Allah”.
Earlier Monday, the Houth rebels detonated the former president's home in Sana.
Later in the day, images of his body appeared in social media, evidently showing Saleh's body. The video shows the human body that resembles Saleh. However, authorities have not yet confirmed the veracity of the video and the identity of the person described, Periscopi broadcast.
Speaking for “Sputnik Arabia”, a senior officer of Yemen's army, Major General Yahya al Mahdi, had confirmed the death of the former president.
Yemen's army is an ally of “Ancer Allah”. According to Al Mahdi, Saleh was killed several hours ago on the Sinhan-Maareb highway.
Meanwhile, sources at the General Congress of the People, the party led by Saleh, have denied information about Saleh's death and accused the Houth organisation of spreading misinformation.
The attack occurred after a six-day war in Yemeni's capital between the rebels Houthi and forces supporting former President Saleh, including an international coalition led by Saudis.
The clashes erupted after an alleged attempt by rebels to capture the main mosque in Sana. International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said Monday that the number of those killed had reached 125 killed and 238 injured over the last six days. /Periscopi/
