Kosovo citizens have not escaped the burden of paying the electricity spent in the northern part. Instead of paying energy through bills, as has happened throughout the post-war years, they are now expected to do so with taxes they share for the state budget, Koha Ditore writes today.
Paying “directly” is expected to take place through the Government of Kosovo, which, in its inability to provide unhindered access to legal supply operators in the four Serb majority municipalities, would need to subsidise their losses.
The Ministry of Economic Development has acknowledged that it is in the responsibility of Kosovo institutions to find a form to cover the cost of energy supply for the four northern municipalities. That's since the Energy Regulatory Office has directed KEDS, COSTT and KESCO so that the cost of electricity supply for the four northern Kosovo municipalities does not cover it through final tariffs.
