Minister Tahiri has expressed satisfaction with the work at this centre, and has promised even greater support in the future.

We can really find that the High Security Prison in the Republic of Kosovo is a very good example of functioning, respect for prison rights, and a very good example of the functioning of corrective service in this centre, of the director, deputy director and all staff. I congratulate them on a huge and efficient commitment, despite problems faced in terms of working conditions and security issues, these manage to do an extraordinary job, and to date, no problems have been caused by the Republic of Kosovo, no problems, despite facing serious problems”, the minister said.

Minister Tahiri has stressed that he has the support of the prime minister and finance minister to boost security within prisons. In this respect, the first job to be done is to increase the number of guards.

We have 120 additional guards in the budget for next year. The corrective Service request has been around 80, but we have found the understanding of the Ministry of Finance to be added to 40, so I have the impression that we will be able to provide sufficient numbers of the guards under the Correcting Service and we will have no problems” the minister stressed.

Kosovo Correcting Service General Director Sokol Zogaj has voiced confidence that the minister's support will enable you to meet the needs this institution has.

“We received a very powerful support from the minister. I believe that in this year and next year we will achieve the goal of both staff and security equipment, and of all the needs this institution has” Zogaj said.
