Karim Abdel Rahman, a Syrian child who lost his left eye two months ago in an artillery attack, has become a symbol of the massacre and humanitarian crisis on the outskirts of Damascus, in eastern Ghetu.
The damage to Karim is just one of the human tragedies of millions of people since the start of the war seven years ago for the overthrow of dictator Bashar al Assad.
For the child, a social media campaign has been launched, becoming viral hashtag on Facebook and Twitter, including sports stars to diplomats, covering one eye.
The photos are labeled #SolidarityWithKarim and #StandWithKarim.

He and his mother were put under artillery attack at a popular market in Hammuriah, eastern Ghouta. Karim's mother was killed in that attack and Karim suffered serious injuries to his skull”, said a medical organisation in the area, a group offering humanitarian and medical assistance to all Syrian war victims.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said he witnessed the October 29th bombings in Hammuriah and other locations on the outskirts of Damascus.
The group monitored grants from regime forces in an area where there was a kindergarten, wounding four of them.
