The United States of America committed to the UN after failing to vote last week to recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital. The US mission to the UN has indicated yesterday that it has decided to reduce financing for the organisation by $285m.
“The effectiveness and overcoming of the United Nations are well known. We will no longer allow the generosity of the American people to be gained or left uncontrolled. This historic decrease in spending, along with many other moves towards a more efficient and responsible UN, is a major step in the right direction. While we are satisfied with the results of this year's budgetary negotiations, you can be sure that we will continue to look at ways to increase the efficiency of the UN by protecting our interests“, Ambassador Haley said.
Last week, US President Donald Trump has threatened to ban financial assistance for countries voting the UN resolution, by which the US decision to recognise Jerusalem, the capital of Israel, is rejected. One of the countries that voted against was Albania. It is not given if similar measures will be passed on to our country.
