The number of weapons amounts to “much more than those that would be available for battle”, according to the study of the arms monitoring group's weapons group (CAR) published Thursday.

The report on Islamic State weapons was based on a three-year field investigation into Iraq and Syria, studying their background.

It analysed more than 40,000 items found in the field of battle, including weapons, ammunition and materials used to make improvised explosive devices, reports “Al Jazeera”, the Periscope broadcast. Some were bought by I SICHAi through the transfer of alliances within the Syrian opposition.

The investigation said most of the weapons were looted by the armies of Iraq and Syria, however, some were initially supplied from other countries involved in the conflict with Syrian opposition groups fighting President Bashar al-Assad.

About 90 percent of the weapons and ammunition used by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Lavent ( ISIL, also known as I The SIS) originated in China, Russia and Eastern Europe, with weapons produced by Russia that are more numerous than those in any other country.
