Trump's decision and his plan to move the American Embassy to Jerusalem caused violence in this holy city, with a fifth day of protests in the Middle East.
“Russia and Turkey believe the decision... does not help regulate the situation in the Middle East, but at the same time destabilises the already complicated atmosphere”, Putin said during a press conference in Ankara.
“It can disrupt the Israeli-Palestinian peace process”, he warned after his meeting with Erdogan following lightning visits to Syria and Egypt earlier Monday, reports “Hurriyet Daily News”, broadcast Periscopi.
Erdogan said he and Putin had taken a similar stance on the issue, as he accused Israel of continuing the “fuel emissions against fire”.
“Israel uses this as an opportunity to further increase pressure and violence against Palestinians”, he added.
Putin earlier in Cairo stressed the importance of the immediate resumption of Palestinian and Israeli talks on all controversial issues, including the status of Jerusalem”./Periscopi/
