A 15 thousand underground caves reportedly belong to the ice age have been found in the Montreal city of Kanda.
Explorers Daniel Caron and Luc Le Blanc, who had a hobby of conducting research in the Saint-Leonard Cave east of Montreal, discovered a new unfinished underground passage with statistics and lakes.
They showed that the glacier cave, located under the Pie XII Park of Montreal, has a form similar to the cathedral, Caron and Le Blanc. According to them, the passage route to the cave, which is projected to be 15 thousand years old, is at least 200 feet [200 m] long, at a height of 6 meters, and at about 3m wide.
Explorers say that the main part of the cave was found behind the limestone wall, while in the main part, it entered by digging a hole in the size of about three feet [1 m], just to get inside a man.
Carno and Le Blanc, who shared their discovery with Canada's official broadcaster CBC, announced that the cave continues as a long corridor and that they still do not know where it ends.
Knowing that there is an underground lake of 5m deep in the cave, explorers Caron and Le Blanc say that “Geologic units, which can store water to a large extent we call them Aquifers. Acchifers are layers that hold underground waters and that have high pores and insight. We think that this too is the Acquifer of Montreal”.
And explorers said that for years they were looking for an unknown section of the St. Cave. Leonard, and this cave was discovered through this search.
They recalled that the main part of the St. Cave. Leonard was open to citizens decades ago. Caron and Blanc say: “But no one knew that a large part was hidden behind the limestone wall”.
It is planned that the cave will open for citizens and explorers in the near future. / AA
