Residents of Albinen, a small Swiss village near Leuckerbad in the Valais canton, will vote on November 30th on a new policy that will offer money to foreigners who are willing to come and live in the village for at least a decade.
According to foreign media, it is a small village of 240 people, one of many villages in Switzerland that has experienced a disturbing ecstasy of permanent residents in recent years.
As stated next, although there are many holiday homes in the picturesque village, permanent residents, especially new families, are choosing to leave.
Three families have left the village only in recent years, including eight children, which means the village school was forced to close.
As a result, local residents have demanded that the council do something to help stop the departure and secure the village's future.
And this is their plan: families or individuals from other countries who decide to buy or build a house in Albinen would qualify, under certain conditions, for a grant of 25,000 francs to adults and 10,000 francs to children, according to information published in the municipal newspaper.
That would mean 70,000 francs for a family of four a real reward for the cost of the mortgage deposit, which should usually be at least 20 percent of the property value.
However, there are conditions. To be appropriate, you must be under the age of 45 and agree to live in the village for at least ten years.
The property to be bought or built should have a minimum value of 200,000 francs and should be a permanent home, not a second residence.
