Reports from Ukraine say anticorruption investigators have arrested this country's Interior Minister Arsen Avakov's son.
Sources in the National Antikyrorupison Bureau (NABU) have said the person, Oleksandr Avakov, was arrested today, following his raid on his home in the town of Harkov, in eastern Ukraine.
Minister Avakov confirmed to the website, Ukrayinska Pravda, that detectives had <x0 used to come to my son to bet”.
The NABU has said it has arrested three individuals, including former Deputy Interior Minister and a businessman, over an abuse case. Investigations are said to be linked to the alleged embezzlement of approximately $520,000 of state budgets, which had been allocated to the Interior Ministry for equipment purchase in 2014-2015.
Ukraine's Interior Ministry said NABU shares are “based on politics, rather than on law”.
