Lekaj: Pristina highway- Skopje ends next year

Infrastructure Minister Pal Lekaj hosted Macedonia's ambassador to our country, Ilija Strasevski, with whom he had a friendly and heartfelt conversation about issues belonging to the two countries, primarily for areas that are the competence of the Ministry of Infrastructure.

Minister Lekaj said the highway, which connects Pristina and Skopje, will be completed in 2018.

I believe we will manage to reactivate railways with the help of financing from the EBRD. These will have positive impacts on citizens of two countries, both on the free movement plan and on the transport of goods, which will directly affect the economic development of both countries”, he said.

Meanwhile, Macedonia's Ambassador Ilija Strasevski said Kosovo and Macedonia, as two neighbouring states, have had good relations and that the common goal is integration into NATO and the European Union.

“As far as the route of the Macedonian section is concerned, we are left to build the road from the border -- namely, from Elez Khan to Skopje's ring, which is linked to Skopje's centre, which has a total of 13km. At the moment, for this part it is working on the part of the feasibility study, but it would be good to have Kosovo-Macedonia railway lines improved, because it will affect the ease of free movement of citizens and transport of goods, where we expect to sign co-operation agreements in this direction”, he said.
