Finance Minister Bedri Hamza has said that after decreeing the Budget Review Law by Kosovo's president, the Ministry of Finance today has made the execution of wages for veterans and petitioners.
Minister Hamza in an interview for Kosova Prees has said it has been difficult to secure 26m euros, a considerable amount of tools, but according to him, after a hard job done for this precious category of our society and from finding funds to legal changes to enable veterans to receive deserved payments by laws.
The “has had to secure these tools, and besides that it has been a problem to build tools, it has also had to become a law change and remove from the Law on the budget a provision that has been restrictive in terms of payments for this category, because it has been a specific article within the law that has limited the amount of payments to 38 million euros. The budget revision has been carried out, it has been discussed in the assembly, and as soon as it entered into force, at that moment we have had it prepared and today we have made the execution of these payments for this category, and veterans have accepted all remaining payments, including August, September, October, and will now proceed in line with the legislation in force”, the Minister Hamza stated.
As for next year, Minister Hamza has said that for this category they will act in line with legislation in force and for all other categories. However, he has not indicated about the 2018 fund for this category, because they have not yet completed all legal procedures to close all veterans' lists.
It's divided through several budgetary lines, it's legislation in effect, where we've processed the 2018 budget in accordance with legislation. We're still not closed, and I expect the Commission ministries responsible for this job to finish their jobs. So you do the jobs so that we can know the exact cost of these processes. As long as certain issues are under way, we can't say this is the end. In this case the Ministry of Labours for Social Management, the Government must create legal conditions and close specific issues to know the last cost, which will be”, he stressed.
Minister Hamza has added that they have allocated funds for veterans for 2018 and are part of the Kosovo budget and, stressed, that until the Law has guaranteed someone a right to carry out a fee, The MF would provide enough tools.
