The December electricity bills will come cheaper for about 3.5%. KEDS, COSTT and KESCO have been instructed by the Energy Regulatory Office that the cost of electricity supply for the four northern Kosovo municipalities no longer be covered through final tariffs. Removing this cost from tariffs means that citizens will pay about 3.5 per cent cheaper electricity fees, so much as lower energy bills, respectively.
“The power supply costs for Kosovo's four northern municipalities under the court's decision will not continue to cover through final tariffs until the court's decision of the merit case”, it says, in the letter the ZRER has sent to the interest parties.
The implementation of this ordinance will take place by December 1st, which means that the seat will be noted in December's bills, usually coming after December 26th.
In addition to the ZERE letter, it has been suggested that the cost of supplying northern municipalities with electricity must be covered by the Government of Kosovo through a separate mechanism.
“to ensure electricity supply as constitutional right for all citizens of the Republic of Kosovo (including specifically the citizens of the four northern municipalities) and not risk financial liquidity and membership in international mechanisms (ENTSO-E) Operator of the Transmission and Market System, over this period a compensation mechanism must be found by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo”, further reported in the document that has accepted energy companies by the ECDS.
In addition, the ZERE reminds the government that it is their competence to provide access to KED and COST in the four northern municipalities.
To exercise its pre-lawed functions in force, licensed operators must ensure safe access to the assets of the licensed in four northern municipalities. This approach should be provided by the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo as soon as possible”, said the ZRE letter.
In addition to the ZERE letter, the removal of the cost of the north's supply from energy tariffs is said to begin applying from December 1, 2017.
The “is directed to COST, KEDS and KESCO to implement the tariffs according to the appendix attached to this letter, until a decision expected to be taken by the ZERE Board, after this organ is functional by the Parliament of the Republic of Kosovo”, said in the ZERE letter.
At the beginning of the year, Z The RRE had decided to continue practices that the cost of supplying citizens to northern municipalities will be covered by regular electricity payers in Kosovo. The only change that will be in this year is the company that will repay these debts to KESCO.
The Energy Regulatory Office has decided that the cost of supplying the north with electricity, as well as the Renewable Energy Fund carried to the Transmission System Operator and Market (OST/OT, KOSTT).
