It's beautiful the world out of prison” These are the first words pronounced as a free man by 41-year-old Lamte McIntyre, from Kansas, U.S.A., wrongly convicted of a double murder in 1994.
He spent 23 years in prison, more than half of his life, although he at no time gave up his claim to innocence.
There's never been valid evidence to connect him to the two murders. He was arrested only after 20 minutes of questioning, we are facing a serious injustice”, his lawyer said this Friday, when Lamton's release occurred.
“The edition was made hastily and superficially”, said a representative of the “Midwest Inocency” project, an organisation that was taken with its release.
Lamo's mother, Rose McIntyre, who was present even during the arrest taken 23 years ago, thanked with tears in the eyes “all those who did not give up on my son's innocence”.
She adds that she fails to believe it and that she already wants her son to enjoy his freedom to the fullest.
