This was confirmed by the Turkish president himself, Reccep Tayyip Erdogan, who said Turkey cannot let the rebels in Idlib down. In this province and its surrounding areas, there are some of the most important rebel strongholds fighting President Bashar al-Assad, but recently many of its territories have been occupied by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, a group led by former al-Qaeda commanders in Syria.
Erdogan said the Turkish military has not yet arrived at the battlefield, but Syrian Free Army fighters have launched the operation, writes Top Cahnel.
“We are taking measures to ensure security in IDlib. A serious operation is under way in Idlib today because there are our brothers who abandoned Alepon. We must help our brothers”, Erdogan said.
Terrorist groups are not part of the pact between Russia, Turkey and Iran for the safe zone in the province of Idlib, one of four in the country. Erdogan pledged he would not allow the creation of a terror zone in Idrib and his words are confirmed by the collection of heavy equipment and means, as well as thousands of Turkish soldiers on the border with Syria.
