Testing Kosovo students in PISA this year is done with computers

After debakley at the student's level of knowledge, Kosovo has started preparing for a second round with a new technical approach since the Ministry of Education requires improvisement. There are few months left when Kosovo will test its educational system through the International Students Rating Programme (PISA), testing practical application of knowledge in three key areas that are reading, mathematics and science.

Test P The ISA will be organised for the second time in April next year, with about 6,000 thousand students arriving at the age of 15.

However, for the first time, this time testing will be done on computers, not pencils and paper, as in PISA 2015 testing.

He confirmed this for a call.com, Mustaf Kadriu, project manager PISA 2018.

He said that in the pilot phase there were difficulties in computer security, while according to him for final testing it would be improvised so that each student is subject to a computer test.

And no matter which school is selected, if the school that is selected has a computer then it's appreciated in its school, if there's no computer there's another school that has a computer, then DV SM/MAST has 80 laptops, and the manager receives them and the test is conducted”, Kadriu said.

He also stressed that they have observed that students have had no problems with questions during the pilot stage in April of this year.

The completion of the pilot test questions has been carried out (the pilot's goal is to bring the process back to nothing, but only how the questions worked and how students filled out the questionnaire)”, he said.

Kosovo's history with PISA

Last year Kosovo became the 72nd country involved in the Programme for International Students' assessment (PISA), within the framework of the Organisation for Economic Development and Co-operation ( O ECD

The results of this test announced last year ranked Kosovo third from the end according to the results of students reading, science and mathematics.

The poor results had prompted numerous reactions from analysts, politicians and others blaming the education ministries over the years for not working.

However, the preliminary minister, Arsim Bajrami, had not taken responsibility for the results, saying the test reflected the work of former ministers.

This situation reflects the situation 2010, 2014, the period before I came as minister, and I'm sure that the assessment P ISA 2018 will rank Kosovo not only at the same level as the region, but also at the level of the European Union”, Bajrami had said.

Now, Kosovo has another education minister, the newly elected Shyshier Bytyqi, who since receiving the mandate in September of this year has not spoken about PISA.

Kadriu also declined to comment on the possible results of 2018, saying they are expected to see if there will be a rise in results.
