The US will accept refugees again after four months of a very controversial suspension, the White House announced, except for those coming from 11 high-risk countries -- the majority of Muslims.
This temporary ban became the target of a long judicial summit since Donald Trump declared, following his arrival at the White House in January, with a decree continuing to stir up controversy.
The Supreme Court finally set in June the partial implementation of this decree, which would allow US immigrant service officials to review procedures and methods of previous travel verifications.
This passage makes our nation safer”, written in the new decree signed yesterday by Donald Trump paving the way for the refugee accession system.
The last “will already face reinforced verifications, with a deeper study of their presence on social networks and their context history”, Jennifer Higgins, one of the department officials in charge of refugees in American immigration services, notes Atsh.
The safety of Americans is our top priority”, she said.
The new decree is accompanied by a deep decline in the number of US-wed refugees allowed for next year.
Former Democrat President Barack Obama had set the limit of 110 000 refugees for fiscal year 2017, which ended on September 30th.
