Despite his continued provocations and willingness to engage in hot rhetoric, senior American intelligence officials say North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is not crazy.
“Kim Jong Un is a very rational actor”, the deputy director of the Korean Mission Centre at the Central Intelligence Agency, CIA, said on Wednesday.
Except for aggressive rhetoric, Kim Jong Un is not willing to face joint command forces (United States and South Korea)”, said Jong Suk Lee at a conference on the discovery in Washington, organised by the CIA.
“Kim Jong Un wants what all authoritarian rulers want, of the government for a long time and die peacefully on his bed”, said Mrs. Lee.
The assessment of intelligence agencies seems to contradict the rhetoric used by US President Donald Trump.
In a series of messages in Titter, President Trump has called North Korea's leader a <x0m> small missile man” and in a message posted last month, he said Kim is “without doubt a crazy man”.
However, Mrs. Lee and other CIA officials believe there has been a <x0 target target “in the way North Korean leader is operating on the world stage.
