We encourage all citizens to exercise the right to vote and express their views about issues in their communities and reaffirm their commitment to democratic values and rule of law. We encourage citizens, civil society and the media to report all concerns about electoral irregularities to relevant authorities. Government and local officials must thoroughly investigate all claims of abuse and take measures. Finally, with their actions parties, government institutions, journalists and citizens will determine the credibility of the” process, the US statement said.
They ultimately add that the elections are a critical part of any democracy and have supported voter encouragement efforts.
The US Embassy will participate actively in monitoring the elections, along with other international and local observers.
