“Security Sites in the European Union, or several countries, including Germany, have been hit by dramatic terrorist attacks”, stressed in a communique, Maiziere, while controls at German borders should end on 11 November.
The minister has noted shortages at the level of protection of the European Union's external borders, as well as considerable illegal immigration within the Schengen space to justify extending beyond November 11th and for six months of border controls.
According to the Interior Ministry, they will focus on the border with Austria and air ties since Greece, the country that has faced a large influx of refugees.
The decision was made in close co-operation with the interior ministers of Austria, Denmark, Sweden and Norway”, according to Maiziere.
