Warned for tomorrow, the first to be held in Kosovo, has a history of preparation and postponement.
Liridon Veliu, manager at the Centre for Equality and Freedom (CEL), which along with the Centre for Development of Social Groups (CSGD) and other organisations have organised tomorrow's parade, said fear of prejudice and violence against the LGBT community have caused these organisations to operate in silence.
By 2012, the LGBT community has been extremely concealed and the organisation has not undertaken something that has been visible because society has not been ready. So even there was no courage to discuss the rights of this community”, Veliu told KALLXO.com.
To date, however, three gears have been organised in support of the LGBT community.
Asked what he expects to happen tomorrow, Liridon Veliu said he cannot prejudge the citizens' response.
He stresses that three Marchs organised so far have been intended to see how citizens will react, and “have been the starting point for the LGBT community in order to put up with the introduction of the”.
Veliu says that “except for the Justice Ministry” has not received any confirmation from Kosovo institutions' leaders if they will participate in tomorrow's Parade.
Otherwise, in the event marking the opening of Crenaria Week last week, Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj pledged that institutions would protect the rights of the LGBTI community.
While, Kosovo Police have said they have prepared an operational plan related to the event warned about tomorrow in Pristina.
The Crenaria parade will begin tomorrow at 11:30 in “Square. Skenderbeu” and will end up in “Zahir Pajaziti” Square.
Why October 10th?
October 11th is International Exit Day (National Coming Out Day), dedicated to persons who are part of the LGBT community.
This day aims to invite citizens to muster up boldness as part of this community.
While Liridon Veliu said the reason why October 10th has been chosen is because they wanted to set up a fixed day so that such a parade could be held annually and October 10th marked as the day of the motto “on behalf of Dassen”.
This motto, according to event organisers, aims to raise awareness among citizens to show that the LGBTI community as well as all society can love and love, as well as remove prejudices that Kosovo society has for the community.
The Parade “Moth is: “In the name of the Love” The main message and goal of the parade is for those in the LGBT community who cannot be in the parade tomorrow, due to fears of prejudice”, Veliu said.
Before that date was set, community rights organisations were scheduled to hold a march on May 17th.
But after the fall of the government on May 14th of this year, organisers had estimated that the atmosphere was not right, so they had canceled it to start preparing for something bigger é Parade.
