But according to foreign media, state statistics show their number has dropped from 11 million to six million over the past 20 years.
E China is now always looking for them from Africa to increase its reserves, and it is importing donkeys from places across the continent. But trade prosperity has faced several obstacles.
Nigeria recently became the last country of Africa to ban donkey exports after an increase in sales to China.
Government officials have reported that 80,000 such animals were sold this year to date, compared to 27,000 in 2015.
In August, Burkina Faso took the same step after 45,000 donkeys were slaughtered in six months by a total of 1.4 million donkeys.
